Cost of a Divorce in Rochester
Many people ask me how much a divorce is going to cost them. The cost of a divorce is going to vary depending upon whether it’s a complicated case and whether or not there are lots of issues. I like to offer people some flexibility in the payments. Many attorneys in my area don’t offer flat fees. I think that many divorces can be resolved quickly, and I offer some clients the ability to have a flat fee. What that does is allows you to have the confidence in knowing what the price is going to be. You don’t have to worry about unexpected fees and expenses, and you can call me anytime you want. You can reach out to me anytime you want. You don’t have to worry about running your bill up because you have a question. Some cases are inappropriate for a flat fee and we would need to do an hourly rate. Those cases are typically the more complicated cases that involve more issues and the time that I would need to dedicate to your case is unknown to some extent.

Cost of a Divorce in Rochester | Retainer Fee
Many people ask me how much money they need to come up with in order to get divorced. If it’s an uncontested divorce, I can probably get going with $1,000 up front. If it’s a divorce that’s going to take a little bit more time and there are some more issues that need to be resolved, I typically look for a $2,000 retainer.
Setting up a Payment Plan
One thing that I’m able to do with my clients is to offer payment plans. Many people don’t have the ability to come up with a huge amount of money and they need some help with the payment plans. My payment plans can typically run from as little as $150 to $200 a month up to maybe $400 to $500 a month depending on what the fees of the divorce are going to be.
