I worked with Mr. Schmitt for a divorce agreement, he is a lawyer, so I don’t think anyone should expect him to be warm and fuzzy, but he will work pragmatically in your best interest. I hired Mr. Schmitt to draft a divorce agreement based on terms previously set in mediation. I expressed what was important to me in the agreement and that most importantly I wanted to be divorced quickly. He never once dragged out any processes and he allowed me to pay his very reasonable fees in monthly installments. From the time I walked into his office to the time I was LEGALLY divorced was about 2.5 months. Not only that, he answered questions and concerns I had about my ex violating the agreement- he was always informative (I may not have liked his answers, but he tells it like it is!).

I only had supervised visitation for 3 hours every other Sunday when I first hired Mr. Schmitt. Without an attorney I was not protecting my rights in court and was being taken advantage of. Although I was clean off of drugs for 5 years I still had a hard time getting my joint custody back. Mr. Schmitt was the only attorney I contacted that personally called me back and gave me advice without scheduling an appointment. He seemed very genuine and he offered pricing that was very affordable. I hired Mr. Schmitt with a deposit and a monthly payment. During the pandemic he worked with me when I lost my job and when I didn’t have the money for my payments he told not to worry about and pay when I can. He still showed up to every court date early and seemed to have a fantastic relationship with the judge. He is very knowledgeable, articulate and diligent. I deeply believe the satisfaction of helping someone get their child back means more to him than the money he receives. After passing a hair follicle test that was demanded by my ex and her attorney they still tried to deny my overnight visit request. Not only did Mr. Schmitt see to it that I got my overnight visit. I also got an extra overnight Fri-Sun and a weekly dinner visit not supervised. Also this will be the first Christmas Eve overnight to Christmas I’ll have with my daughter in 8 years. I cannot thank Mr. Schmitt for what he has done for me, my daughter, her sisters and my fiancé. Now that I am back to work I plan on paying him every dollar that is owed and will recommend him every chance I get. I wish I could give him 10 stars because 5 just does no justice for the service he provides.

When I met Mike I had just been shocked to find that my marriage was over and everything I had ever worked for was in jeopardy. I felt completely lost and overwhelmed with fear of the unknown. As soon as the meeting was over I felt the first sense of hope that I had felt in a few months. Mike explained to me what was really going to take place. He also advised me on how to conduct myself and prepare to generate the best possible outcome which is extremely important. “MONEY”… For everyone that is the first concern when hiring a lawyer. Mike listened to my situation and his first priority was giving me the help I needed. When it came to money he worked within my means and was extremely affordable especially considering the level of representation that he provides. To be fair, the results he delivered outweighed anything he charged me by a long margin.
Mike’s a no BS attorney and a no BS business man. You can go elsewhere and pay 4 times as much but you’re not going to get 4 times the representation… you’re just paying for another law firms billboards and radio commercials!
If you’re reading this, you’re probably in a tough spot and I remember that feeling. Do yourself a favor and set an appointment with Mike. When I came into Michael Schmitt’s office, I was a near wreck. Divorce is hard enough, but worrying about your children is the worst feeling in the world. He organized my case with no problem; was extremely professional while still being a comforting person in a time of great stress. From the beginning he took my case in stride, and recognized how important my children were, and just what to do to maintain custody. This is my first time entering into the realm of NY legal proceedings. Walking into Michael Schmitt’s office I was extremely nervous and on edge. In the matter of minutes, I had my confidence and trust built up. To break down the jargon the court system uses is no small task, and I was able to learn more about what was going on and our plan of attack without having to do any outside exploration. Not only was I able to feel comfortable, and even though my case is on the smaller level of importance compared to charges other clients surely have faced, I felt as though my matters would be handled appropriately and given their due diligence- if not even more. To top it all of, he and his wife just welcomed a baby into the world, helping to increase the level of comfort and humanizing his role, if you will. When I went to Michael Schmitt’s office, I was a bit nervous that my child support case was too trivial to be treated with care. This was an example of just regular unpaid child support, nothing overwhelming or all-too-horrifying. Also, here I was going to see a lawyer about not receiving money- I was nervous I’d be paying more than it was worth.

When I received my latest traffic ticket, my license was in jeopardy of being suspended for a year. For someone who needs their license for their job, this was an incredibly stressful time. Michael Schmitt handled my case with no problem, he was completely calm from the beginning and took my case without any fear. It really helped to calm me down, and go into proceedings confident. Turns out there was nothing to worry about, his experience really pulled through here and he was able to save the day. Back in November of 2018 I hired Michael Schmitt to represent me in family court for an order of protection I placed against my mother and one she cross petitioned. I also used him for 2 civil court cases against her and 1 civil court case for my business, as well as traffic court. I’d highly recommend. Mike is a no nonsense attorney. He gets stuff done and done right. He has been successful in all of my cases. After reading this nonsense bad reviews I had to post a good one. I can believe these people. Mike has never missed court or rescheduled on me. Mike is prompt and on time. When Mike is standing next to me in court I feel confident. Hiring him is the best thing I’ve done. I have used him in multiple courts and have been more than happy with the outcome. He is YOU’RE GUY. HIRE MIKE! I couldn’t of found a better lawyer. Honestly he should charge more for the hard work he performs. “besides me Mike” Best part is he calls me and doesn’t charge $75.00 for a phone call. He answers his phone and emails promptly. For some reason my last review isn’t showing up. I originally retained Mr. Schmitt several years ago so I could obtain sole custody of my daughter. He accomplished the job despite my constant nagging and basically being the worst client ever. LOL. He then represented me for both the Custody and Child Support for my son. He got me above and beyond what I was expecting and was extremely professional the whole time. Two years ago (almost to be exact) I retained him to deal with my daughters child support matter. After two years going back and forth with her father, digging through boxes of financials and the many court date reschedules he showed up to court more prepared than any attorney probably would. Mr. Schmitt was able to calm my nerves and reassure me that everything would turn out fine. He was right…. Court order was then appealed by my daughters father and Mr. Schmitt got me though that without a hassle. Now that the appeal was denied and my daughters father still doesn’t seem to want to pay what the court order says Mr. Schmitt will be helping me with this as well. Some say it’s sad that I became friends with my family law attorney but when you can trust your attorney more than people whom share your DNA friend is the only word that works. Mike recently handled my Divorce case and I have to say that he was Fantastic. My case was fairly difficult and Mike navigated every step with ease, and confidence. It became particularly difficult at times as the attorney for my Ex would make completely inaccurate statements in court, and made accusations that were egregious at times. Mike knew when to respond, and most importantly when NOT to respond. He helped me stay strong, and offered me excellent direction on what documents I needed to provide to refute their allegations, he gave me easy deadlines to make, and was patient with me. Throughout the whole process, Mike demonstrated a great amount of Reason, when their side offered none at all. It was incredible as Mike laid out my case versus my ex’s case – and Mike got me a settlement which includes A) A lump sum check for several thousand for the Buyout of our marital residence, B) my ex-wife has to pay me Child Support and Mike got me almost double what I was originally going to request, and C) Finally Mike also got me an agreement from their side that they will have to pay me half of a deferred compensation account my Ex had which will be another check to me in excess of $8 grand…… and Mike will absolutely represent me when it comes time to file that Qualified Domestic Relations Order. Mike and his Paralegals were very easy to communicate with, and quick to respond. (the office staff was great and very accommodating) and I would absolutely recommend Mike for someone going through a Divorce. Lastly was the cost and financial arrangement when I hired Mike. I was in a very tight position with finances when I started the Process (I Filed for Divorce against my spouse) Mike worked with me to set the retainer amount that worked, and allowed me a payment structure that took my needs into account (My needs and the needs of my two Little ones as well) Mike did not break the bank as some Lawyers can. he was very affordable, and made the whole process easy from start to finish. There is one word that sums up my experience working with Mike Schmitt – INCREDIBLE

My divorce was finalized in December 2012. It, as you can imagine was a very rough time for me and my children. Mike was truly amazing throughout the whole process. Mike recently handled my Divorce case and I have to say that he was Fantastic. My case was fairly difficult and Mike navigated every step with ease, and confidence. It became particularly difficult at times as the attorney for my Ex would make completely inaccurate statements in court, and made accusations that were egregious at times. Mike knew when to respond, and most importantly when NOT to respond. He helped me stay strong, and offered me excellent direction on what documents I needed to provide to refute their allegations, he gave me easy deadlines to make, and was patient with me. Throughout the whole process, Mike demonstrated a great amount of Reason, when their side offered none at all. It was incredible as Mike laid out my case versus my ex’s case – and Mike got me a settlement which includes A) A lump sum check for several thousand for the Buyout of our marital residence, B) my ex-wife has to pay me Child Support and Mike got me almost double what I was originally going to request, and C) Finally Mike also got me an agreement from their side that they will have to pay me half of a deferred compensation account my Ex had which will be another check to me in excess of $8 grand…… and Mike will absolutely represent me when it comes time to file that Qualified Domestic Relations Order. Mike and his Paralegals were very easy to communicate with, and quick to respond. (the office staff was great and very accommodating) and I would absolutely recommend Mike for someone going through a Divorce. Lastly was the cost and financial arrangement when I hired Mike. I was in a very tight position with finances when I started the Process (I Filed for Divorce against my spouse) Mike worked with me to set the retainer amount that worked, and allowed me a payment structure that took my needs into account (My needs and the needs of my two Little ones as well) Mike did not break the bank as some Lawyers can. he was very affordable, and made the whole process easy from start to finish. Mike will end all your distrust and annoyance associated with legal proceedings. He handled my divorce and did an amazing job keeping it out of court and getting me what I wanted. He was there to talk to the whole time and made me feel he was on my side by his comments and advice.
